Seniors: Check out the November Senior/Scholarship Update now available in your senior English and Govt classes, in the counseling office hallway in the library and online here at the counseling blog. This month UC applications open online.
There is a local scholarship posted: The Elks Club Most Valuable Student Award. Be sure to check it out along with all the other scholarships.

American Indian College Motivation Day - Nov. 5th

HSU will be hosting American Indian College Motivation Day on Thurs, Nov. 5th. This is a fun event – filled with workshops, speeches and information from college recruiters. We will be leaving at 8:20 a.m. and returning around 3:00 p.m. Snacks and a free lunch will be provided. If you’d like to attend,get a permission slip from the office and return it signed by your teachers and parent. Return permission slips to the office/Mrs. Austin by Oct. 30.

Humboldt State College Rep Visit

A college rep from Humboldt State will be on campus on Monday during lst period to talk to Juniors and Seniors about HSU. HSU is known for their great outdoor programs like wildlife biology, forestry, environmental science. Also they have great teaching, psychology, fine art, kinesiology, music and much more. They are a NCAA Division 2 college for sports. If you would like to attend, sign up in the front office.

HSU Fall Admission Day - Oct. 30

Attn Seniors who are applying to HSU: We are taking a bus up to HSU Fall Admission Day on Friday, Oct. 30. If you would like to come, be sure to apply to HSU and register for Fall Admission Day by Oct. 16. To apply online, go to csumentor.edu. To register for Fall Admission Day, go to humboldt.edu/fall. Also, you will need to return a signed permission slip as soon as possible. Need help, see Mrs. Austin.

November SAT Reminder

Attn 4 year collegebound seniors: The deadline to register for the Nov. 7 SAT is Friday, Oct. 9. To register, go online to sat.org/register. Need help or a fee waiver, see Mrs. Austin

This month there is info on college applications, sending SAT scores, college preview days and also two new local scholarships - Violet Richardson Award and the Elks Club scholarships. Violet Richardson Award - Applications Needed

The Soroptimist Club of Eel River is looking for female students to apply for the Violet Richardson Award. This award recognizes a female student who has performed outstanding service to others and has tried to help make the world a better place. Volunteer actions that benefit women or girls are of particular interest. The award amount is $1,000.
