Check out the Senior/Scholarship Update for the month of January. This is the month to file your FAFSA or Dream Act Application to get financial aid for college. Some notable scholarships out this month include the Buick Achievers Scholarships for students majoring in mechanical engineering, engineering. design, business and automotive/related majors, the local Sons of Italy Eureka Lodge No. 1274 scholarship,

Financial Aid Night for Seniors and Parents

Seniors: On Wednesday, Dec. 11, 6 - 7 p.m. in the library, we will be hosting an informational session on financial aid for students and parents. General financial aid information will be presented by representatives from the County office as well as the local colleges. Hope to see everyone there!

Seniors: The December Update is now posted. Check it out for the latest news and scholarships. December is the kick off month for financial aid. Be sure to get your PIN this month. One for you and one for your parent. To get your PIN, go to www.pin.ed.gov.
Notable scholarships out this month: PG&E scholarships, UC Davis Aggie Scholarship, Hispanic Scholarship Fund Scholarships, local Kathleen McVeigh Youth Citizenship Award, local Elks Club (due Dec. 6th),

Deadline Reminder for Seniors Applying to CSUs and UCs

Reminder: The deadline to apply to CSUs and UCs is Nov. 30. Also, if you are applying to the EOP program for the CSUs, be sure to have your application and recommendations submitted by Nov. 30 for priority consideration. Need help, see Mrs. Austin.

CSU Fullerton President's Scholars Program Full Tuition Scholarship

Seniors: If you are planning to apply to CSU Fullerton, here's a scholarship just in. The CSU Fullerton President's Scholars Program is looking for applicants. Eligibility: GPA of 3.75, above average SAT scores, community service and must apply to CSU Fullerton by Nov. 30. Winners will receive a full tuition scholarship, generous annual stipend, laptop computer, priority registration, free parking and automatic admission to the Honors program.

Sophomore HOBY Rep Chosen

Congratulations to Sophomores Gillian Borges and Cody Hurst. Gillian was selected as the sophomore Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership delegate from Fortuna High and Cody Hurst was picked as the lst alternate in case Gillian can't make it. Gillian will be representing our school at the statewide conference next June at Sacramento State University. Special thanks to all teachers who took the time to vote.
