January Senior/Scholarship Now Posted

Attn Seniors: The January Senior/Scholarship update is now posted. Check it out for

all the latest news and scholarships. This month is financial aid month. Be sure to

submit your FAFSA or Dream Act. Also Thursday is Cash for College workshop Day in

the B Labs from 1 - 6. Come by if you need FAFSA help, or want to take the survey

so you'll be eligible for the drawing to win a $250 scholarship. This month in the

scholarship update the local scholarships include: HSU scholarships, 

Dr. Charles Rigney Scholarship, Grange Co-Op (Ag) Scholarship, Humboldt Redwoods

Community Scholarship and the Humboldt Area Foundation Scholarships 

(available on Jan. 15th)!

Cash for College Workshop January 7th

Seniors: We will be hosting a Cash for College workshop on Jan. 7th from 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. in the B Labs. If you still need help completing your FAFSA, plan to attend. If you have already completed your FAFSA, come anyways and fill out an exit survey. If the workshop has at least 30 students attend who complete an exit survey, one student will win a Cash for College Incentive Scholarship in the amount of $250! Exit surveys should take about 15 minutes to complete. Sign up in the office if you would like to attend during school hours, otherwise, stop by at lunch or after school. Parents can attend as well, and are welcome to bring their 2014  tax info and bank statements. However, the student must be present in order to be eligible for the Incentive Scholarship drawing. Financial Aid Night for Senior Parents - Dec. 10

Attn Senior Parents:
On Thursday, Dec. 10 from 6 - 7 p.m. in the library, we will be hosting Financial Aid Night for Senior Parents. We will be covering information on how to apply for financial aid for college, types of financial aid, how to fill out the FAFSA, grants and other topics. Hope to see you there. Questions? California Conservation Corps Presentation

Seniors: A representative from the California Conservation Corp (CCC) will be on campus during 4th period on Monday, Dec. 14. The CCC is looking for recruits who would like to join their year-long program, get paid to work outdoors and get job training while working.There is also instruction and certification available in first aid and CPR, chain saw work, firefighting, leadership training, cooking and more.  Individual internships are available as well. If you would like to get more info then sign up in the office to attend the presentation.

Check out the December Senior and Scholarship Updates for all the latest news and scholarships. This is the month we get ready to start working on financial aid. There will be classroom presentations in Senior History classes on Dec. 8 and 10. Also for senior parents, we will hold a financial aid night on Thurs. Dec. 10 from 6 - 7 p.m. in the library.
 Re: scholarships, the Elks Club Most Valuable Student Scholarship is due on Dec.4. Plus a few local scholarships are out this month: Sons of Italy, Kathleen McVeigh and the P G & E Scholarships.

Late SAT/ACT for December Registration

Seniors: In case you missed the regular registration dates for the Dec. 5th SAT or the Dec. 12th ACT, you can still do late registration until Nov. 20. Fee waivers will work for late registration for the SAT (not sure about the ACT). To register for the SAT, go to: sat.org/register. For the ACT go to: actstudent.org. Need help, see Mrs. Austin

American Indian College Motivation Day - Thursday
